Lightning Lane at Animal Kingdom, Ride by Ride

Is Lightning Lane worth it at Animal Kingdom? Sometimes. Here's ride by ride where it pays: Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest on Multi Pass, Flight of Passage on its own Single Pass, and what each costs.

Quick Answer: Sometimes. Animal Kingdom usually has the cheapest Lightning Lane Multi Pass of the four parks, roughly $15 to $35 a person, and we mostly use it for Kilimanjaro Safaris with little kids. Expedition Everest is on it too. Avatar Flight of Passage is a separate Single Pass, roughly $15 to $19, before Disney's October 6 rise of $1 to $3 at the top.

Animal Kingdom is the park where Lightning Lane is least automatic. It has the shortest ride list of the four, and most of its lines are modest. So the useful question isn't whether to buy it, but which one or two rides you'd actually pay to skip.

What Animal Kingdom's passes cover

Animal Kingdom's Multi Pass has no first-group limit, unlike the other parks. Disney's Lightning Lane list, as we read it on October 10, 2026, has you pick from Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids, Na'vi River Journey, Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, Feathered Friends in Flight!, Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue... and Beyond!. Avatar Flight of Passage isn't on that list. It's a Single Pass.

Here's how those rides' lines looked. The table uses each ride's average standby wait for 2026 from Queue-Times, and we count about 10 minutes in the Lightning Lane line itself, our own assumption, since Disney doesn't publish those waits.

The safari is where we spend it

Yes, sometimes: when we buy Lightning Lane here, it's mostly for the safari, at this stage with little kids. That fits the numbers. Kilimanjaro Safaris averaged about half an hour in 2026, which is the longest of the Multi Pass rides, so a pick saves around 20 minutes of standing in line with small children. The pass costs the same whichever ride you spend a pick on, so this is the ride where it buys back the most.

Everest is on our list of reasons too, though the data asks for a check first. It averaged under 20 minutes across 2026, which leaves a Lightning Lane saving only a few minutes on a typical day. Look at the app's standby time before you spend a pick there, and keep it for days its line is running long.

Flight of Passage is the one Single Pass

Flight of Passage is another reason we'd buy here. It sells on its own at roughly $15 to $19 a person over the past year. On October 5, 2026, Disney's page listed it at $18, which we confirmed ourselves. Disney raised Single Pass top prices by $1 to $3 on October 6, so a busy 2027 day can come in a little higher. Its line averaged mid-50s, which sits right around our 45-minute rule once the Lightning Lane wait is counted, so we'd buy it on a busy day.

You can also try heading to Flight of Passage first thing, which Disney lists among Animal Kingdom's Early Entry attractions, but a short wait isn't guaranteed. If it works out, a Multi Pass for the safari and a couple of other rides may be all this park needs. Our guide to park hours and Early Entry covers how to plan the morning.

How to buy it

Everyone needs park admission for that day. Disney's Lightning Lane page says guests at Disney Resort hotels and other select hotels can buy up to 7 days ahead, and everyone else up to 3 days ahead, starting at 7:00 AM Eastern. A Multi Pass holds three picks at a time, and you can add up to two Single Passes a day in the same checkout.

Premier Pass, which covers every ride here once, ran roughly $110 to $200 before Disney raised its top price by $50. With a park this small, we'd skip it. If someone in your group is short, our Ride Height Guide shows what they can ride before you spend a pick.

So, should you buy it at Animal Kingdom?

Buy Multi Pass when the safari is on your list, and add it for Everest on a day its line runs long. Add the Flight of Passage Single Pass on a busy day, or take a chance on standby with an early start. On a quiet day, or with a list of gentler rides, we'd skip both.
