Why we go in early November

Early November, after Halloween and before Thanksgiving, is a window we use. Our families, New Jersey natives, usually go the week of the state teachers' convention, and the 2026 NJEA Convention is November 5 and 6 in Atlantic City. That timing puts us in the same weeks as a lot of other New Jersey families, so we keep an honest eye on the crowd forecasts below.

The weather is the other reason. Orlando's November averages a high of about 78° and among the fewest rain days of the year, around 6, based on NOAA's Orlando normals, which we laid out in our Weather Discount post. Hurricane season technically runs through November 30, so keep an eye on the forecast the week you leave.

What's running in early November

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ends on October 31, and the holiday season at Walt Disney World runs from November 13 to January 6. In between, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party opens on select nights from November 8 to December 22, with early dates on the 8th, 9th, 12th and 13th. Disney Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios starts on November 7.

Christmas Party tickets run from $189 to $229 plus tax, depending on the date. Tickets are limited, so if you want a party night, buy early. Last Checked: October 10, 2026.

Jersey Week, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving

This is the part to plan around. Many New Jersey families head south the same week, and MouseSavers describes Jersey Week as usually the first or second week of November. WDW News Today's 2026 calendar marks November 6 to 15 as Jersey Week and Veterans Day crowds, with Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11. WDW News Today's own FAQ calls early to mid-November often among the least crowded stretches, and MickeyVisit's 2026 calendar lists November 1 to 7 and 12 to 25 among its best dates, so even the forecasters don't fully agree.

The clearest quiet stretch is the week before Thanksgiving. WDW News Today's picks for 2026 are November 15 to 21 as least busy, ahead of Thanksgiving crowds that build from around November 20 to Thanksgiving on November 26.

How we'd plan it

If you're tied to the NJEA week, go anyway and spend your mornings well. Resort guests get 30 minutes of early entry, so put your must-do rides there and use the afternoon for a break or a party night. If your dates are flexible, shift to November 15 to 21 and keep the same weather.
