Quick Answer: The times we love to go to Disney World in 2027 are September, early March and early May, with early November and the first two weeks of December close behind. September is also the cheapest, with Disney's lowest 1-day ticket prices ($119) usually landing in August and September, as long as you can live with heat and afternoon storms. The weeks to avoid are spring break and Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas through New Year's, when crowds and prices peak together.

Disney World prices almost everything by the date now. Tickets, hotel rooms and party nights all cost more when demand is high, so the calendar quietly settles a big share of your budget before you've picked a resort or a single ride. The good news is that the cheap weeks and the quiet weeks mostly line up, and they're predictable once you know what drives them. School calendars do most of the work. The windows below are the ones we love to go, picked from those patterns, so read them as our favorites, not a rule.

Disney World in 2027, month by month

Here's the whole year at a glance. The price level is our read of where tickets and Disney's own hotel rates sit that month against the rest of the year. It's a guide for picking a month, not a quote: your exact dates set the real price.

Price levels are our read of Disney's date-based ticket prices (NerdWallet's monthly averages and Disney's ticket page) and Disney's 2027 resort rate seasons (MouseSavers). Crowds from MouseSavers' and Mickey Visit's crowd guides. Highs and lows are NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Orlando; stormy means rain on about half of days or more. Event dates are Disney's where it has announced 2027 dates, otherwise the usual season. Last Checked: October 10, 2026.

Two patterns jump out. Disney's resort rooms tend to be cheapest in January and late August, while tickets bottom out in August and September. At Pop Century, for example, MouseSavers' 2027 rate chart has a standard room from about $220 a night with tax in January's value season to about $420 between Christmas and New Year's. Christmas week is the most expensive single week.

Our three favorite windows

September, if you can swing it

September is one of our favorites by far, and the reason is simple: nobody takes their kids out of school right away. Once the school year starts, family trips pause, and the parks feel it. MouseSavers lists late August and all of September among the best times to go, and Mickey Visit calls September a notoriously calm month.

It's the cheapest month too. NerdWallet's price analysis found September the cheapest month on average for tickets, flights and Orlando hotels in its recent data, and Disney's lowest 1-day price, $119, has been showing up in August and September.

If you want the single cheapest week, aim for the end of August into the first days of September, before Labor Day weekend. Disney's late-summer value season for rooms runs August 15 to September 2, 2027, right when Disney's lowest ticket prices tend to land.

Price your days: Tell the Park Ticket Calculator who's going and how many park days you want, and see the cheapest ticket that fits your group.

What you trade for it is weather. September highs average about 90°, it rains on nearly half of days, and hurricane season is at its peak. We worked out how that trade-off prices against the other summer months in our Weather Discount post, so we won't redo it here. Short version: September is the one cheap month that's worth its weather.

Early March, after Presidents' Day and before spring break

Another favorite is early March, but only the gap after Presidents' Day week (February 15, 2027) and before spring breaks start. In 2027 that gap is short. Easter falls on March 28, and spring break season builds from about mid-March, so think the last days of February through the first week or so of March. Crowd guides such as MouseSavers' put mid-February through mid-April in the busy stretch, so this is a narrow gap rather than a quiet month, and we aim for the front edge of it.

The weather is about as good as Orlando gets, with highs near 79° and some of the driest weeks of the year. Early March isn't cheap, though: tickets and rooms are on spring pricing, and the win here is crowds and comfort.

One thing helps. Disney's spring 2027 room offer takes up to 25% off rooms at select resorts for most nights from February 28 to April 29, 2027. Arrive by March 1 and you'll catch the last days of EPCOT's Festival of the Arts; the Flower & Garden Festival opens March 10.

Early May, before schools and colleges let out

Another favorite is early May, before local schools and colleges let out for the summer. Crowds usually run below average for most of the month, and the first three weeks of May are on MouseSavers' short list of the best times to go. Memorial Day weekend, which ends May 31, 2027, is when it turns.

Disney's rooms drop to regular-season rates from April 25 to May 23, 2027, below their spring prices, and 1-day tickets have averaged a bit below March and April. It's warmer than March, with highs near 88°, but still mostly dry, and Flower & Garden runs through May 31.

Two more we use: early November and early December

Early November, after Halloween and before Thanksgiving, is another window we use. Our habit is New Jersey's teachers' convention, when most of New Jersey's public schools close for two days (November 5 and 6 in 2026). It's a school break most of the country doesn't share.

A heads-up if you copy us: plenty of New Jersey families have the same idea, and crowd watchers call it Jersey Week for a reason. With Veterans Day (Thursday, November 11, 2027) right behind it, the first part of November runs busier than the middle. If your dates are flexible, the week of November 15 is quieter, before the Thanksgiving rush starts around November 20.

November is Orlando's driest month, with highs near 78°. The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival usually runs into late November, and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party nights start early in the month.

December is for the decorations, and we love them. We go only in the first week or two. Crowds stay reasonable until the week before Christmas, and MouseSavers lists mid-November through mid-December, except Thanksgiving week, among the best times to go.

Prices are another story. Disney's rooms move to winter rates in late November, so early December costs more than early November, just a lot less than Christmas week. The Very Merry Christmas Party runs select nights until just before Christmas (November 8 to December 22 in 2026), and EPCOT's Festival of the Holidays usually opens right after Thanksgiving.

The weeks we avoid

The week between Christmas and New Year's is the one we skip entirely. It's crowded and massively expensive. A 1-day Magic Kingdom ticket reaches $229 on December 25 and 31, 2027, Disney's new top price for a 1-day ticket, and room rates peak right alongside it. We stay away from the days leading up to Christmas too.

The other weeks where crowds and prices peak together all follow school breaks and long weekends:

  • New Year's and winter break: through about January 2, 2027.
  • Presidents' Day week: Presidents' Day is February 15, 2027.
  • Spring break and Easter: from about mid-March into early April, with Easter on March 28.
  • Summer: June through early August.
  • Columbus Day and fall break: the week around October 11, 2027.
  • Thanksgiving week: Thanksgiving is November 25, 2027.

If a school break is your only option, a local break that doesn't match the national ones is worth more than any discount.

Hurricane season, in brief

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and its peak is September 10, with most activity between mid-August and mid-October. That overlaps our favorite window, and we still pick it. A storm in the forecast doesn't have to end a trip, but it pays to book in a way that can move.

Disney has a hurricane policy that, as outlets have reported it, covers packages and most rooms booked directly with Disney when a storm threatens, and it doesn't cover bookings made elsewhere. Read the exact trigger and deadlines on Disney's hurricane policy page before you book.

Bookings made elsewhere follow their own rules, and so does your airline. Check the terms again when you book.

Plan for rain, whatever the month

We've had some very rainy trips, so we plan for rain every time: ponchos for everyone, rain gear for the stroller, a change of clothes in the bag and the right shoes for everyone. From June through September it rains on about half of days in Orlando, and lightning can pause outdoor rides until a storm passes.

Check the forecast: Pick a trip date in our Parks Weather tool for the forecast (or typical weather if it's further out), what to pack and all four parks' hours.

Go early, and lean on weekdays

Whatever month you pick, going early has been the habit that's worked most consistently for us in the off seasons. Waits are generally lowest in the morning, and if you stay at a Disney Resort hotel, Early Theme Park Entry lets you into any of the four parks 30 minutes before opening, for select rides. Put your must-do rides first, before the lines and the heat build. We lean on weekdays over weekends, though the pattern shifts with the season, so let the week you pick do most of the work.

Pick your dates with our tools

Plan the whole trip: Once you have a window, the Trip Planner takes your budget, dates and who's coming and gives you a Value, Moderate or Deluxe pick, with the math shown line by line.

So, when should you go?

If price comes first and your family handles heat well, book September: the end of August into early September, or the week after Labor Day. If you'd rather have the best weather for the money, take early March or early May and use the spring room offer where it fits. If you're tied to the big school breaks, lean on early mornings and weekdays, and skip the week between Christmas and New Year's no matter what.

One last check before you book: price your exact dates, not just the month. A single holiday weekend inside an otherwise quiet week can move both the crowds and the bill.
