> **Quick Answer:** Art of Animation is our pick over Pop Century for families with kids. In 2027 a standard room runs about $230 to $420 a night at Art of Animation and $190 to $360 at Pop Century before tax, a gap of roughly $35 to $60\. For that, you get the Nemo and Cars pools and rooms built around Disney stories. Both resorts ride the Disney Skyliner.

Pop Century and Art of Animation are the two Value resorts families weigh against each other most, and the price difference is small enough that it feels like a real decision. It mostly comes down to one question: will your kids spend time at the resort, or only sleep there?

## The price gap is about $35 to $60 a night

Both resorts are Disney's Value tier, a step below the Moderates. Art of Animation's standard rooms are all Little Mermaid rooms, and across 2027 they run about $35 to $60 a night more than Pop Century's standard rooms. Over a five-night stay, that gap adds up to roughly $175 to $300 before tax. Both resorts' full 2027 season charts are on [MouseSavers](https://www.mousesavers.com/2027-art-of-animation-room-rates-season-dates/?ref=stackthemagic.com) if you want to see which weeks fall where.

## Why we'd book Art of Animation

Our pick is Art of Animation. The theming is incredible for kids, and the Finding Nemo and Cars pools are worth the stay all by themselves. It was one of the most fun stays we've ever had.

Disney's own page calls the Finding Nemo Big Blue Pool the largest resort pool at Walt Disney World, with a play area for little ones. The Cozy Cone Pool is the Cars one, and a third pool, Flippin' Fins, is themed to The Little Mermaid. Pop Century's pools follow its decades theme instead, with the 1960s Hippy Dippy Pool as the big one, plus a 1950s bowling pool and a 1990s computer pool.

That's the real trade. At Pop Century you're paying for a bed and a bus or gondola stop, and the theming is a backdrop. At Art of Animation, the stay itself becomes part of the trip, which is exactly what you want if the kids will beg for another pool afternoon.

## The rooms, and the Family Suite

A standard room sleeps four at both. Art of Animation's has a king bed or two queens, while Pop Century's has a queen or king bed plus a queen-size pull-down bed. If you'd rather not fold a bed down every night, that favors Art of Animation.

Art of Animation also has Family Suites in Finding Nemo, Cars and Lion King themes that sleep up to six, with a bedroom, a living room and two bathrooms. Pop Century doesn't have suites. If you're a family of five or six, that's the only reason to look at the price jump.

## Getting around is the same

Both resorts are on the Skyliner, so EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are a gondola ride, and Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are buses. Nothing there should tip your choice. One heads-up: WDWNT reports the Skyliner is scheduled to close for refurbishment January 24 to 30, 2027, with free buses running instead, so check Disney's page if you're booking that week. If transportation does matter, our [resort transportation guide](https://www.stackthemagic.com/resort-transportation-ranked-monorail-vs-skyliner-vs-bus-by-time-saved/) ranks the options by time saved.

## When Pop Century is the better pick

If you'll only sleep at the resort, leaving at rope drop and coming back after the fireworks, Pop Century does that job for less, and the savings can go toward Lightning Lane or a dinner. It's also a fine pick for adults and teens who won't care about the Nemo pool.

One thing to check before you book: Disney's pages for both [Art of Animation](https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/art-of-animation-resort/?ref=stackthemagic.com) and [Pop Century](https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/pop-century-resort/?ref=stackthemagic.com) say refurbishment is underway, so look at what's open for your dates.

**Spend the savings:** our [Lightning Lane Check](https://www.stackthemagic.com/lightning-lane-worth-it/) gives you a buy-or-skip call on Lightning Lane, ride by ride, and shows what it would cost your group.

## So, which one?

With younger kids, book Art of Animation and take the pool afternoon seriously. For a couple, teens or a tight budget, book Pop Century. If you're weighing a Moderate too, Caribbean Beach's standard room costs less than Art of Animation's on a few dates, such as New Year's Day, and more on most others.
