- Description: The Park Hopper adds about $80 to $110 per Walt Disney World ticket. One hop pays for it on a 2-day ticket, but on a 4-day ticket you need two hop days, and on longer tickets an extra park day often costs less. How to decide, and how to get it free.

> **Quick Answer:** On a 2-day ticket, one hop pays for the Park Hopper. On a 4-day ticket you need two hop days. On 5 and 7-day tickets, one more full park day usually costs less than the hopper, so skip it unless you'll hop most days or can get it free on a Disney+ Perks package.

Near the end of Disney's ticket checkout there's a box for the Park Hopper. It [adds about $80 to $110 a ticket](https://www.mousesavers.com/regular-walt-disney-world-ticket-prices/?ref=stackthemagic.com), kids pay the same as adults, and for a family of four on a 4-day ticket that's roughly $350 to $450 for the option of switching parks.

Plenty of families tick it just in case. Whether you should really comes down to who you're traveling with.

Our take: if your group wants to catch a parade or fireworks at night, the hopper is incredibly helpful. Older groups who'll be staying up late get the most out of it, because [a morning in one park and an evening in another](https://www.stackthemagic.com/ride-priority-planner/) lets you truly make the most of each day. If your crew is done by dinner, the numbers below mostly say skip it.

## A hop is worth less than you think

The hopper is a flat fee per ticket, but each extra park day gets cheaper the longer your ticket runs. On a 2-day ticket, adding a third day costs more than the hopper, so one afternoon in a second park pays for it. On a 4-day ticket it flips: in the tax-included prices we compared, a whole fifth day costs less than the hopper at both the cheapest and the priciest start dates.

That's the whole test. A hop is usually half a day somewhere else, so it has to beat the price of a full day to be worth buying. On a 4-day ticket that takes two hop days. If your plan has one "maybe" hop in it, leave the box empty.

## Buy a 5-day ticket instead, if the trip has room

For a family of four, a 5-day base ticket costs a little less than a 4-day Park Hopper on both the cheapest and the priciest dates. That's an entire extra park day for less than the hopper. The trade-off is time: a fifth park day probably means another hotel night, which isn't in that comparison. If your dates are locked, the hopper is the only way to fit more parks in.

## Or wait, and add it once you're there

You don't have to decide at checkout. The hopper can be added after you buy, right up to midnight on the day you use your last admission (or the ticket expires, if that's sooner), and it's priced on the ticket's total days, not the days you have left, MouseSavers reports. Adding it on day three costs the same as adding it at home. So buy the base ticket now and upgrade only if you catch yourself wanting to hop. Do buy that base ticket ahead, though: tickets of 3 days or longer cost about $21 more each at the gate.

## Get it free with Disney+ Perks

Disney's Disney+ Perks offer [includes the Park Hopper on 4-night, 4-day room-and-ticket packages](https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/2026-disney-plus-package-offer/?ref=stackthemagic.com) at select resorts, with up to 25% off the room, for stays in set windows that run through December 24, 2026 (the offer page lists which windows are left). Everyone in the room has to be on the same package. For a family of four that wipes out the $350 to $450 hopper cost, but price the package against booking the room and tickets separately before you commit.

## Hopping anyway? Look at Park Hopper Plus

Park Hopper Plus [adds one visit per ticket day](https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/admission/tickets/?ref=stackthemagic.com) (a 4-day ticket gets 4) to Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, ESPN Wide World of Sports or golf. It runs about $20 to $40 more than the plain hopper, while a 1-day water park ticket is about $65 to $80\. One water park afternoon covers the difference. If you don't care about hopping, Plus only pays off with two or more visits.

## So, should you buy it?

| Ticket | Hopper vs. one more day | Hop days to be worth it |
| ------ | ------------------------ | ----------------------- |
| 2-day | Hopper costs less | 1 |
| 4-day | Extra day costs less | 2 |
| 5-day | Extra day costs far less | 2 to 4 |
| 7-day | Extra day costs far less | 3 to 4 |

Per adult ticket, advance purchase, cheapest to priciest start dates, from our comparison of MouseSavers' ticket tables (Disney's own ticket page shows only "from" prices). Check your own dates before you buy. Last Checked: September 29, 2026.

Buy it if your group will stay out late for a parade or fireworks, on a short trip with a split day planned, or on a 4-day ticket with fixed dates and at least two evenings you'd really spend in a second park (an EPCOT dinner after a Hollywood Studios morning, twice). Skip it if you do one park a day, head back to the pool by mid-afternoon, or you're on a longer ticket and would rather add a day. And if you'll be back more than once this year, try our [Annual Pass Calculator](https://www.stackthemagic.com/disney-annual-pass-calculator/) first, since Annual Pass holders [can hop too](https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/park-hopper/?ref=stackthemagic.com).

## Frequently Asked Questions

**What time can you park hop at Disney World?**

Any time during park hours, once you've entered your first park. Hopping may not guarantee you can get into a park for a dining reservation or other pre-booked experience there, and each park can still reach capacity.
